Barakabaho has collaborated with various partners in health to provide interventions for orphans and vulnerable children, helping them restore hope for the future. They provide skills and knowledge to prevent the cycle of diseases like HIV, AIDS, and COVID-19. Additionally, Barakabaho ensures these children receive proper nutrition, acknowledging poverty as the root of many problems in Africa, which contributes to high mortality rates. With a core value of "Let them continue to live," Barakabaho aims to empower these children and break the cycle of poverty and disease.
Barakabaho Foundation's Morning Star School has 8 primary school classrooms (from primary one to six) and 2 nursery classrooms on 7 hectares of land. The school is made of durable materials and has a sports ground and 10 latrines, segregated by gender. In 2013, the school had 288 students, including 147 girls and 141 boys, and all 49 students in primary six passed the national exam to proceed to secondary school.
We've had great success with the Banana Farming School Project, which partners 20 local farmers with 20 refugees in Mugombwa Camp, Gisagara District. Together, they share farming techniques, aspirations, and overcome challenges through a Self-Help Group. This collaboration has not only directly benefited these individuals but has also helped the wider community. The project has been so successful that the Self-Help Groups have evolved into a cooperative of skilled banana farmers. It's a testament to what can be achieved when people come together to share knowledge and work towards a common goal.
